Red Rose Meaning
Not every knows that the meaning of rose colors is quite significant. Each color is meant to be used for different types of occasions. Red roses primarily signify more than the average rose. They are used on Valentine’s Day, for wedding anniversaries and in a relationship to say “I love you,” “I’m sorry,” or “Be mine.” It is for this reason that the meaning of red roses is love and romance. Today the red rose that we think of was introduced to Europe in the 1800s by the Chinese. Originally, it was a symbol of life in general because of its dark red color which signified blood, but now we associate the red rose with deep emotion and love. The Greeks associated the red rose with their Goddess named Aphrodite, who was the goddess of love, romance, desire and beauty. The red rose can also be seen in classical artwork from this period.
